Mary Ann Elizabeth Epley
Mary Ann Elizabeth Epley, age 73, of Great Falls, Montana, passed away from emphysema on October 19, 2009, at Scottsdale, Arizona.
The daughters of Ernest and Ann Epley of Great Falls, Mary Ann was educated at Ursuline Academy, Paris Gibson Junior High and Central High School in Great Falls; the College of Great Falls, two years; earned a degree in Sociology from Seattle University. She spent one year in the development office of Seattle University; six years working for Atlantic Richfield Company in Seattle, and thirty years in the United States Foreign Service-Agency for International Development, with foreign aid assignments in Washington, D.C., Vietnam, Ecuador, Ivory Coast, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Mali, Yemen, and Zambia.
Retired since 1997, Mary Ann returned to her hometown where she was active in local politics and raised money for both the College of Great Falls and the Ursuline Academy. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2000 and relocated to Arizona in January, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her two older brothers, Emmett Epley of Lexington, Virginia and Jack Epley of Scottsdale, Arizona; she is survived by three nephews, Michael Epley of Phoenix, Arizona, James Epley of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Kelly Epley of Glendale, Arizona, as well as a two sister-in-laws, Jean Epley of Phoenix, Arizona, and Nancy Epley of Lexington, Virginia.
Memorial inurnment services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Graceland Cemetery, Meade, Kansas. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, is in charge of local arrangements.
