Ira F. Salmon
Ira F. Salmon, age 100, died Sunday evening, August 16, 2009, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born January 25, 1909, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the son of Henry and Lucy (Conrad) Salmon.  As a young boy, he attended school in the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1929.  Upon his graduation, he attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.  He returned to Fowler and began his lifelong career in farming.
Ira enjoyed traveling, having coffee with family and friends, and had a passion for local and family history. 
On October 23, 1940, he married Agnes Mae Golliher at Garden City, Kansas.  She precedes him in death on April 11, 1983. 
He is survived by: A son, David Salmon of Fowler, Kansas; A daughter, Frances Elffner of Fowler, Kansas; A sister, Alice Hoffman of Fowler, Kansas; Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter; a brother, Leonard Salmon; and four sisters, Mary Dalgran, Anna Veeder, Eleanor Jones-Anderson, and Betty Endicott.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Fowler, with the Reverend Dick Robbins presiding.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas.  Interment will be in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler. 
The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Threshing Days in care of the funeral home.
