Dorothy L. Roberts
Dorothy L. Roberts, age 83, died Tuesday morning, October 26, 2010, at her Liberal, Kansas, residence.
She was born April 16, 1927, at rural Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Edward “E.A.” and Hilda Steiner Eisenbart. As a young girl she moved to rural Fowler, Kansas, where she attended a rural country school. She later attended Fowler High School, graduating from Fowler High School in 1945.
On February 29, 1948, she married Max Roberts at Wichita, Kansas. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Meade County. Over the years she maintained the home while assisting her husband as a clerk for their auctioneer business. During her years in Meade, she was an active volunteer for the Meade County EMS serving the community as an EMT.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Liberal and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by: A son, Richard Roberts of rural Plains, Kansas; Four daughters, Vicki McDowell of rural Fowler, Kansas, Kathy Boyd of Meade, Kansas, Richelle Axtell of Meade, Kansas, Connie Hart of Lenexa, Kansas; Eleven Grandchildren and Thirteen Great-Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Max on April 13, 1985; her parents; and a sister, Maxine Golliher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, Plains, with the Reverend Steve Morgan presiding. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be in the Plains Cemetery.
The family would welcome memorials to the Plains Library, Plains Community Development or the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
