Leo H. Dabbelt
Leo H. Dabbelt, age 90, died Friday evening, September 24, 2010, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born September 12, 1920, at Fowler, Kansas, the son of Hubert Gerhardt and Mary (Nieport) Dabbelt. As a young boy he attended St. Anthony Catholic School in Fowler.
On September 18, 1958, he married Margaret F. Zumberge at Celina, Ohio. Later in 1969, the couple moved to Meade, Kansas, from Fowler. Leo worked for the Meade County Road and Bridge Department, retiring in 1983, after thirty-six years of service.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade, and the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Elmer and Harry; eight sisters, Mary Ann, Elenora, Agnes, Bernadine, Leona, Elvina, Loretta, and Hilda.
Vigil services were held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, September 27, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade. Holy Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the church with the Reverend Jimmy Barrazo presiding. Interment followed in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Kansas.
The family would welcome memorials to St. John Catholic Church, the Beam Senior Center, or Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of the funeral home.
