Evelyn Ruth DePriest
Evelyn Ruth DePriest, age 92, died Tuesday morning, October 19, 2010, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
She was born November 22, 1917, at Tribune, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde and Minnie Francis (Groomer) Sweany.  On July 22, 1935, she married Donald H. DePriest at Cassville, Missouri.  In 1949, the couple moved to Plains, Kansas, where they made their home.  While in Plains, she worked for Southwestern Bell before the office closed.  Upon its closure she worked for the Meade office until its closure.  She then transferred to the Liberal office working there until her retirement.
She was a member of the Christian Church.  Ruth enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by: A son, Tony D. DePriest of Guymon, Oklahoma; Two daughters, Rosella R. Brooks of Childress, Texas, Barbara A. Malone of Plains, Kansas; Two sisters, Tiny Weber of New Mexico, Jeanne Dillow of Pueblo, Colorado; Seventeen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
She is preceded death by her husband on October 24, 1994; parents; two brothers, James Sweany and Dean Sweany; and two sisters, Katherin Ingram and Anna Sweany.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel, Meade, with Reverend Steve Morgan presiding. Interment was in the Copeland Cemetery, Copeland, Kansas.
The family would welcome memorials to the Meade Church of Christ or the Copeland Cemetery Fund in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
