Sidney C. Langford
Sidney C. Langford, age 83, died early Tuesday morning, June 22, 2010, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born October 5, 1926, in Monroe County, Mississippi, the son of William and Hattie (Staten) Langford.  As a young boy he attended the Wren, Mississippi school system.  Upon his graduation, he joined the United States Navy serving as a quartermaster from 1943 until 1946.  After his discharge in 1946, he moved to Meade, Kansas.  In 1947, he married Betty Taggart.  The couple later divorced.  On November 26, 1951, he married Norma Butler at Oxford, Mississippi. 
Sid worked for Wolfe Motor Company for 23 years.   The company later sold and he worked for DeLissa Ford, Inc. for 10 years, retiring in 1989. 
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Meade where he served throughout the years. 
He is survived by: His wife, Norma Langford of Meade, Kansas; A son, Rjay Langford and wife, Danette of Meade, Kansas; A daughter, Diedre Stafford and husband, John of Kansas City, Kansas; A daughter-in-law, Sarah Cox of Texico, New Mexico; A brother, Albert Langford of Moorville, Mississippi; A sister, Effie Harlow of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina; Three granddaughters, Kinzie Post and husband Brett, KeAnne Langford, & Karalee Langford; Two step-granddaughters, Jamie Baker and husband Lee, Jennie Mullenix; and Eight Great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, James; his parents; six brothers; six sisters; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade, with the Reverend Lynn E. Spencer presiding.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with the family present from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade. 
The family would welcome memorials to St. John Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
