John Carlyle (J.C.) Sinclair
John Carlyle (J.C.) Sinclair was born on September 6, 1934 at Grigston, Kansas, to Archie John and Ruth (Herndon) Sinclair.  (He was born in the living quarters of the store/gas station/elevator/post office that his dad operated.)  He passed away at his home on November 27, 2010 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 17 days.
During his early years he had lived in Grigston, Scott City, Solomon, Bucklin, and Plains, all in Kansas, graduating in 1952 from Plains High School, where his dad was an Industrial Arts teacher and his mother a kindergarten teacher.
He attended Okmulgee Technical Institute at Okmulgee, OK for 2 years, earning a certificate in Diesel Mechanics in 1954 with honors of outstanding leadership, scholarship, and achievement.
He served in the United States Army for 2 years at Travis Air Force Base, CA, receiving his honorable discharge in 1956 with the rank of SP3.  He attended Wichita State University, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education. He earned his Master of Arts Degree in Technical Education from Pittsburg (KS) State University in 1965.
He taught Industrial Education (later known as Industrial Technology) for 8 years at Ness City, KS (1963 - 1971), and 26 years at Cimarron, KS, retiring in the summer of 1997.   He was named the local Teacher of the Year for the 1977-78 school year, listed in Who’s Who Among Teachers of America, and nominated in 2009 for the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame. In addition to his high school classes, he had taught evening adult woodworking and welding classes.
His hobbies were growing irises and housing purple martins.
His memberships included the First Baptist Church, Cimarron, where he served as deacon since 1973, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, treasurer, and on many committees; various Industrial Technology professional groups; Kappa Delta Pi; Boot Hill Iris Club, Dodge City; and the Dodge City Area Ostomy Support Group.
On February 24, 1957, he married Alice R. Holmes at the Plains Methodist Church, Plains, KS.
Survivors are 2 sons, Chris (& Sally) Sinclair, Mesquite, NV; Mark, Derby, KS; daughter Carla Sinclair, New Smyrna Beach, FL; grandsons Daniel  (& Amanda) and Matthew Podschun, Orlando, FL, Ansel J. Sinclair, Las Vegas, NV; granddaughter Sierra Podschun, New Smyrna Beach, FL, step-granddaughter Greer (& John) Thomas, Jacksonville, FL, 1 step great granddaughter, Noelle, 1 great granddaughter, Zoey; brother, Archie Zane (& Mary) Sinclair, Raytown, MO; sisters Cyndi Christopher, Bucklin, KS and Beth Brosemer, Las Vegas, NV., sister-in-law Barbara Sinclair, Coffman Cove, AK; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Calvin in infancy, Larry (Kismet, KS) and Norman (Coffman Cove, AK). 
Services for J.C. Sinclair were at the First Baptist Church, Cimarron, with Pastor Richard Deimund officiating, at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 30, with burial at Dighton Memorial Cemetery, Dighton, KS at 2:00 P.M. that day. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Cimarron,  or  Cancer Center of Kansas both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, P.O.
