Ray A. Rexford
Ray A. Rexford, age 67, died Monday afternoon, December 27, 2010, at his rural Montezuma, Kansas residence.
He was born March 28, 1943, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Chester and Nadene (Dowell) Rexford. As a young boy he attended the Mertilla Grade School before attending Montezuma High School, graduating in 1961. He later attended Fort Hays State University, graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology in 1966. During his college years he belonged to Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and received his flight training.
On December 20, 1966, he married Melva Jones in Johnson, Kansas. After their marriage they made their home in rural Gray County where he began his farming career with his father. Over the years he made his residence in rural Montezuma and had a home in Port Aranasas, Texas.
He enjoyed many things in life, including, flying, fishing, hunting, water skiing, sky diving, and drag racing.
He is survived by: A son, Ondre Rexford of Concord, North Carolina; His father, Chester Rexford of rural Montezuma, Kansas; and A sister, Beth Acoya of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Nadene Rexford.
Celebration of life services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas. Interment followed in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
The family would welcome memorials to the Hospice of the Prairie in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
