Ethel Mae Dobbs
Ethel Mae Dobbs, age 79, died September 29, 2008 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, Kansas. She was born August 15, 1929 in Hereford, Texas, the daughter of Clarence and Verdice (Husted) Lynn.
She moved to Meade in 1938. On December 24, 1945 she married Howard A. Dobbs in Meade, Kansas. In 1967 the family relocated to the Emporia area. She was a pastry cook at Emporia State University for 22 years, retiring in 1985. Memberships included Americus United Methodist Church, Americus, Kansas and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by: her husband, Howard A. Dobbs; sons: Tracy L. Dobbs of Waverly, Kansas, Alvin W. Dobbs of Locus, North Carolina, Howard L. Dobbs, Jr. of Plymouth, Kansas, and Arthur Dobbs of Quinlan, Texas; daughters: Margaret Holden of Americus, Kansas, Linda Piper of Americus, Kansas, Connie Wood of Emporia, Kansas and Lynetta Jackson of Thomas, Oklahoma; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Anthon Lynn, Adolphys Lynn and Clarence Lee Lynn, grandson Jody R. Jackson and great granddaughter Jennifer Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, October 2nd at the Americus United Methodist Church, Americus, Kansas with Rev. Gina Gile officiating. Burial will follow in the Americus Cemetery, Americus, Kansas.
