Bonnie I. Elledge
Bonnie I. Elledge, age 86, died early Wednesday morning, February 18, 2009, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
She was born November 29, 1922, at rural Meade, Kansas, the daughter of Earl M. and Johanna F. (Adams) Elledge. As a young girl she attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1940. Upon her graduation, she worked at several local restaurants before becoming a dispatcher for the Meade Sheriffs Department, working for the department until her retirement. In addition, she co-owned Elledge Auto Service.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Meade; the Rebekah Lodge, Fowler; Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxillary, Ashland; the Golden Notes, Meade; and the Meade High School Alumni Association, having served as the first president of the association. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting, word searches, reading, visiting and spending time with family and friends.
On June 22, 1941, she married Virgil L. Elledge at Dodge City, Kansas. He precedes her in death on December 6, 1976.
She is survived by: a daughter, Donna Ryba of Meade, Kansas; Four grandsons, Kelly Ryba of Littleton, Colorado & Tyler Ryba of Cheney, Kansas, Schoen Elledge of Spearville, Kansas & Ian Elledge, USN 2nd Class of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Nine great-grandchildren, Alison, Melisa, Emily, Payton, & Brody Ryba, Caitlin, Cooper, Conner, & Teaghen Elledge; 1 step-great-grandson, Dakota Klitzke
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Verle Elledge, on January 2, 1992; a brother, Robert Osborne; and a son-in-law, Paul Ryba on October 1, 2008.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, Meade, with Reverend Paul Livingston presiding. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
The family would welcome memorials to the Golden Notes, Beam Senior Center, or Library at Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of the funeral home.
