Knowledge at Noon
Meade County K-State Research and Extension FACS Agent Christine McPheter is hosting Knowledge at Noon on Tuesday, March 13th, “Fabulous chocolate.” There will be samples but please bring a sack lunch. RSVP by calling 873-8790.
Card Shower
The family of Ruth Hantla is hosting a card shower in honor of her birthday on February 25th. Cards and well wishes may be sent to Ruth at 408 E. Central, Apt D71, Andover, KS 67002.
Senior Center Activities
The Fowler Senior Center will be having their monthly potluck supper on Monday, February 20th, at 6:30 pm. Dinner this month will be Lasagna, provided by the Senior Center. Bring a salad, side dish or dessert and join the group for dinner and some fun afterwards. Anyone age 50+ is invited to attend. Hope to see you there! On February 27th at 7:30 pm they will be having movie and popcorn. This month they will be showing “The Proposal” a romantic comedy starring Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Betty White and guaranteed for a few laughs. Join the fun at the Fowler Senior Center.
Booster Club Competition
The Meade Booster Club is competing with the other seven schools in our substate basketball tournament to have the most team supporters listed. Any individual, family or business may be listed on the page in support of our MHS Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes for only $5. Names and money may be given to Debbie Wiens at MES/MJH or Katie Papay at MHS. You may also contact Shirley Branson at 873-2828. They hope to fill their support page completely. Please use this opportunity to show your support for our school!
Ground Hog Supper
The Plains United Methodist Men will host their annual Ground Hog Supper Wednesday, February 15th. The event will be held in the Plains United Methodist Fellowship Hall and everyone is invited. Serving of a tasty meal featuring sausage with biscuits and gravy, potatoes and cobbler starts at 5:3O PM. There will also be a sale of pre-priced pork products during the evening. A free will offering is requested for the meal. The proceeds will go to update the parsonage kitchen. Come for some good food and good fellowship. Plains Thrift Shop
The Plains Thrift Shop is open on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm and on Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm at 505 W B in Plains.
Fundraiser
The United Methodist Men of Meade will be hosting a pancake supper on Saturday, February 18th, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Fellowship Hall. This is a fundraiser for the Dodge City Disaster Response Trailer to supply tools and generators in case of a tornado or other disaster anywhere in the state of Kansas. Free will donations will be accepted. Your support is appreciated.
MC Republican Committee
The Meade County Republican Committee will be holding a Presidential Caucus on Saturday, March 10th, with the doors opening at 9:30 am and the voting process beginning at 10:00 am. The caucus will be held at the Meade High School commons area. This caucus will be one of 93 county caucuses held in 99 locations throughout the State of Kansas on March 10th. The purpose of the caucus is to determine how many of Kansas’ 40 delegates to the National Republican Convention are assigned to each presidential candidate. In order to vote at the caucus, a person needs to be a registered Republican voter in Meade County. Registration is open at the County Clerk’s office through February 17th.
Wednesday Night Lenten Series
Meade United Methodist Church, 203 N. Park, will hold a series of Wednesday night snack suppers and study during Lent, February 22-April 4, 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. A light snack supper will be followed by a 10-minute video from "Final Words from the Cross" by Rev. Adam Hamilton and a brief discussion. Everyone is welcome to attend.
