Just a reminder, the deadlines for the Meade County News is NOON on Monday, for news copy, delivered or phoned into the office, and 9 am on Monday for the news drops in Plains and Fowler. Deadline for advertisements, including classifieds is 5 pm on Monday.

Senior Supper
The Fowler Senior Citizens will have their regular carry-in supper on Monday, March 15th, at 6:30 pm at the Senior Center. Meat (corned beef) will be provided so please bring a side dish and come and enjoy the fellowship.
Preschool Story Time
Preschool Story Time will be held at the Meade Public Library on Friday, March 26th, at 10:30 am. Mother Goose will be reading Easter stories followed by an Easter Egg Hunt.
Lap Sit Story Time
Lap Sit Story Time will be held at the Meade Public Library on Friday, March 26th, at 10 am. The theme for March will be “On the Go.”
Safe Boating Course
The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will be hosting a Safe Boating Course for ages 12 and up on March 20th at the Liberal Recreation Center from 9 am to 6 pm. You may pre-register by calling 620-626-0133. This course meets the mandatory requirement for youth and adult boaters.
Alumni Meeting
The Meade Alumni Committee is holding a meeting this Thursday, April 8th, at 7 pm at the Library Community Room. Have a little spare time on your hands and want to get involved? This is your chance. There are various opportunities with varying levels of responsibility. This is the 100-year anniversary and the large five-year reunion so volunteers are needed!!
Benefit Dance
There will be a Benefit Dance on March 13th in Exhibit B building at the Meade County Fairgrounds from 8 pm to Midnight for Raye Morford-McCampbell. Raye is currently recovering from Chronic Lyme Disease and Polio Syndrome. All proceeds to towards Raye’s medical expenses. Music will be provided by Complete Music of Kansas with TJ Milford. Bring your own beverages. Pop and water will be available. Admission is $10 per person.
Open Gym
Meade Recreation Commission is sponsoring Adult Basketball and Open Gym at the Meade High School gym on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.
Blood Drive
The Meade Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, March 22nd, from 9:30 am to 2 pm at the St. John Forst Center in Meade.
Display
The turquoise collection of Charl Lee Heatley is currently being shown at the Meade Public Library. Leon and Charl Lee Heatley lived in New Mexico for over 20 years, and the items were acquired during that time. You won’t want to miss seeing this beautiful collection. It will be on display during the month of March.
