Republican Party Meeting
The Meade County Republican Party will have its organizational meeting at the Truck Stop in Meade on Friday, August 27th, at 5 pm. All elected precinct men and women are encouraged to attend. For more information contact Chairman Ron Ryckman.
25th Class Reunion
The SWH Class of 1985 will have their 25th Class Reunion on Saturday, September 4th, at the Plains Tavern from 2 pm until ?. Any SWH Alumni are invited to come and join the class. If you have any questions, please contact Resi Palmer Ross at 620-629-5714 or Peggy Eakes Chase at 620-629-3455.
Prayer Meeting
A community prayer meeting will be held on the courthouse lawn on Saturday, September 11th, from 11 am to Noon in conjunction with a nationwide prayer event. All interested are welcome to participate.
Hunter Safety Course
A Hunter Safety Education Opportunity will be provided for all those 11 years of age or older (under 13 should have a parent attending) who wish to earn their Hunter Safety card. The class is limited to 25 students so reserve your sport by calling (620) 873-5328. Please leave the full name of the person attending as well as their birthday and phone number. This will be a first come first serve basis so don’t delay in registering. The class will be held on September 11th at 8 am at the Meade County Fairgrounds and will be an online assisted course. The completion of the online portion of the class is mandatory. Printed assignments will be required for entry into the class on the 11th. Field day will be primarily held outside, rain or shine so come prepared for the conditions. Water bottles are recommended. Eye and ear protection, firearms and ammunition will be provided. You may bring your own safety gear but NO FIREARMS or AMMUNITION will be allowed. For any questions, contact NRO Casey Gamble at 873-5328.
Meade Blood Drive
You may give blood at the Meade Community Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 8th, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at the St. John Forst Center on highway 54 in Meade. Contact Marj Wiens or Mary Friesen for more information.
Story Time
Meade Public Library will host story time on Saturday, September 4th. Lap sit story time will be held at 10 am for children under the age of 3 and their caregiver. The theme for this event will be having fun with reading and rhythms. Mother Goose will be present for the first pre-school story time on the 4th at 10:30 am. All children 3 to 5 years of age are welcome to attend.
New Hours Coming
Effective September 13th, the Meade County Health Department will implement new operating hours to better serve the public. The new hours will be: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30 am to Noon & 1 to 5 pm; Thursday and Friday, 7:30 am to Noon. Thursday afternoon policy has not changed. The office will be closed for patients but the phone will be answered. This time allows the staff to work on paperwork and projects with limited interruptions.
